How to Promote Your Fundraiser Partnership to Your Own Customers
· Generosity Team
Your fundraiser partnership only pays off if people know about it. Here's how to tell your own customers — without feeling like you're selling.
You've agreed to support a fundraiser. The voucher is listed, the campaign is live. Now comes the part many businesses forget: telling their own customers.
Your customer base is the fundraiser's biggest untapped audience — and promoting the partnership is good for them, the cause, and you.
Why you should tell customers
Your customers already trust you. When you tell them about the fundraiser, you're giving the cause an endorsement — and giving your customers a reason to feel good about supporting you. It's also genuine marketing for your business: the association with a good cause is exactly the story you want told.
Where to promote it
- At the counter. A small card or sign: "We're supporting the school camp — ask us how."
- On your window. A poster with the voucher and the QR code.
- On social media. A post celebrating the cause and the offer.
- In your email newsletter. One clear mention with the link.
- In conversation. "Did you know our $50 cards send $10 to the local team?"
How to talk about it
Lead with the cause, not the sale. "We're helping the Year 8s get to camp — every card sold sends $10 their way" is a story; "buy a card today" is an ad. Your customers want to feel part of something — invite them in.
Make it easy to say yes
Display the voucher code or QR at the till. When a customer shows interest, hand them the link. The less friction between interest and purchase, the more you help the fundraiser.
Involve your team
Your staff are your best promoters — if they know the story. Brief them on the cause, the offer, and how to mention it naturally. A team that's genuinely behind the partnership sells it far better than any sign.
The honest balance
Don't make every interaction about the fundraiser — customers can smell a pitch. Mention it naturally, celebrate milestones, and let the cause's own campaign do the heavy lifting. Your role is the warm introduction, not the hard sell.
Your customers support causes they believe in. Give them the chance to support one through you.
