How to Build a Fundraiser Page That Actually Converts

· Generosity Team

A good fundraiser page makes people want to give and makes it easy to do so. Here's how to write and structure a page that turns visitors into supporters.

You can share a fundraiser link a hundred times, but if the page doesn't convince people to act, the shares won't matter. The good news is that the difference between a page that converts and one that doesn't is rarely luck — it's a few proven elements.

Start with a clear, human title

"Fundraiser for Year 8 Camp" tells people exactly what it is. "Help Our Kids!" does not. Include the group, the cause, and where possible the goal amount. People give to specific, understandable needs — a school trip, new team kit, a community hall roof — far more readily than to vague ones.

Tell the story, not just the goal

Explain why this matters and who it helps. A few short paragraphs beat a wall of text. Mention the kids, the team, or the community that will benefit, and what reaching the goal will make possible. If you can share a photo or two, do it — pages with a human face consistently perform better.

Make the "what" and "why" obvious

Within the first screen, a visitor should be able to answer three questions:

  • What is this fundraiser for?
  • How much is needed?
  • How do I help?

If people have to scroll or search for any of those, you'll lose them.

Show progress and momentum

People are more likely to give when a fundraiser is already moving. If you're at 40% of goal, say so and celebrate it. Momentum is contagious — and the first donations often come from your own team members and whānau, so don't be shy about getting those early contributions in.

Make giving easy

Offer simple choices: a suggested amount, an option to give monthly if that suits the cause, and the ability to buy a voucher or item rather than donate outright if that's more comfortable. Every barrier you remove — no forms, no logins, no cash — adds conversions.

Update as you go

A page that says "thank you, we're at 80%" outperforms one that hasn't changed in three weeks. Post updates, celebrate milestones, and remind people the finish line is close.

Your page is the heart of the fundraiser. Get it right and every share, email and poster does more work for you.
